Photoshop: Greyscale option for Navigator.

This way, you can view your value range while drawing/editing without altering your existing image. Much like how Navigator is currently constantly refreshing when you alter your image, it would do the same in your greyscale model.

Or you could create a new document window, and apply a proof setting that gives grayscale.

To elaborate on Mr.Cox’ post:
• Window > Arrange > New Window for ...
• View > Proof Setup > Custom ...
And it might be useful to save the setup so as to be able to select it quickly later on.

This is an option, of course, I just think it would be nice if Navigator was useful for something other than just showing you where you are in your document.

It is more useful that that, after all one can set the zoom and position in the window in Navigator.
But personally I simply don’t use it usually.
