Composite photoshop files. I'd like a way of being able to composite multiple photoshop files, as layers in a single master photoshop file. This would:
1. Keep things modular, file doesn't get too big
2. Be useful for seeing how the pieces look together, providing customers with a mockup for signoff
3. You could mass export the layers as pngs. Layers would retain dimensions and "save for web" settings. So you don't have to go into each file individually to rexport the png

Oh, I didn't realise you could smart object another PSD (thought it was just illustrator files). I feel stupid now lol, thankyou for your feedback!

You can't currently link them to external files - but that is another request that comes up often.

But you can have a smart object with an embedded reference to any format that Photoshop can open.

Ah i see, thankyou. I'll see what I can achieve with smart objects. I want to be able to export each of the individual elements easily (without having to remember what dimension it was exported at last time) and have them altogether in one printable view.

That should work with smart objects.
