Hi there, I have Photoshop CS5.1 running on Mac OS X its been working fine for 12 months then all of a sudden both macs on same day stopped launching photoshop. I've tried moving the preferences folder to reset the settings but it makes no difference. I am a photographer and have no means to work on pictures and have my head in my hands.. any ideas on how to fix this?

What version of OS X are you on? Did you install some new software on the systems or do any sort of upgrades? Did you run any system 'clean-up' utilities?

Does it give an error? What is the exact behavior when you launch Photoshop?

Hi Jeff, actually just following your thread with different user Becky that you've just responded to... my error almost identical - freezes on startup on blue screen - to be fair it is when it is launching the Kubota element but like Becky I haven't updated anything or changed anything at all and have been using this for 12 months no problem. I am a photographer like Becky so feel her pain!

It could be the Kobuta plug-in's certificate or licensing expired today and is causing the problem.

I'd visit the Kobuta site to see if there's a newer version of the plug-in and work with their support folks to solve this issue.

Hi OK, thanks I've just fired an email to them... thanks for your help i'll let you know what the resolution is as it might help anyone else that is experiencing the problem. I've deleted the whole Kubota dashboard and now photoshop launches so its definitely something to do with it. Thanks Suzanne

I've tried all the fix options on that link you gave me already - other than paying to upgrade to CS6 which I can't afford I don't have any other options. I've paid an enormous amount of money to have this software, I just don't understand why it is behaving like this.

Again, you don't need to update your Photoshop. You need to update or remove your 3rd party plug-ins that broke.
