Express v2.1 for iOS strips EXIF data from saved images

I just upgraded Photoshop Express for iOS to v2.1 after reading "Bug fix — The app now preserves metadata when saving an image". I was disappointed to see that 2.1 still strips most of the EXIF data when images are saved. Other photo apps preserve this EXIF data. I'm *VERY* happy with the performance of the Noise Reduction feature in the Adobe Camera Pack, but I'm ready to look for an alternative if Adobe doesn't fix this problem.

Hi Adam,

Can you kindly let us know which all EXIF fields were striped out during the save operation?

To preserve the photo metadata information, we require the Location Services in the iOS device be turned on of PSExpress due to a limitation in the API (as Geo Information is also part of the photo metadata), so can you check the state of it in the Settings app > Location Services.

Have you made any progress on this? I don't see the camera type, aperture, exposure, focal length, program, or geolocation information anywhere when I upload photos to Flickr from the PS Express app on iOS.

Nicholas, the problem was resolved for me when I turned on location services for PS Express. In iOS 7, that's found under Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. First, Location Services has to be turned on. Then you'll have to scroll down to find PS Express in the list of applications, and make sure it's turned on there too. Turns out, this is not a PS Express requirement - it's an Apple iOS requirement.

Best regards,

Adam

I am getting all the EXIF fields on saving in the latest app version 3.3.
If Location Services is OFF, we dont get GPS and Location data. All other data is preserved including
camera type, aperture, exposure, focal length etc.
Please update the app and let us know if you still see the issue.

Thank you,
Amit

I am having this problem as well. I think it started after I upgraded to iOS 8.4. I'm using an iPhone 6 to take the pictures and an iPad Air 2 (both iOS 8.4) to manipulate the photos (yes, I have location setting on for PS Express and am using the most recent version). I'm attaching a photo of the EXIF before and after. The data is clearly recorded on the iPhone and stripped after editing it in PS Express.

Any thoughts as to what's causing this?

Thanks.

Regarding my post above - the images attached are reversed: the first picture of EXIF is after editing in PS Express and the second is before.
