Have Windows 7 and my new CanoScan 5600F will not allow me to import photo into Photoshop Elements. I get screen entitled "Getting Media" - w/ message: Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in this Catalog. I do not have the scan in the computer anywhere at all - it is a new scan. Under this message is Reason: File already exists in the catalog and File: C:/Users/Owner/AppData/Local...011-09-27-1706-41/Image1.jpg. If I go to the above path, the scan is there but Adobe will not import it to the Organizer. Also, Photoshop will not allow me to email either. I had no problems until I had Windows 7 installed and the CanoScan 5000 was not compatible and I could not scan from it as well - result was to purchase the new scanner that was compatible with Windows 7 - still the results remain the same. Need help desperately. I am a 71 year old female with limited computer skills - just want the program to work!! Thank you. Nita B.

Sounds to me like you may be scanning the images to an unsupported file type, bit depth or color mode.

Make sure you are scanning your document using 8bit and RGB as your bit depth and color mode for your scanner settings. Then save the files as either PSD, TIFF or JPEG from your scanner software.

I am getting the same error message. I have had my Photoshop Elements 11, Cano Scan 3000F scanner and computer (still using Windows XP)for years. Was able to successfully Import from Scanner until yesterday. While in Elements Organizer>Import>From Scanner. I am attempting to save the scanned image to a file folder that contains other photos. Have done this many times before. Have no clue why I am getting the same message as Nita Phillips, though my second part of the error message is different. Mine says..The file already exists in the catalog C:/DOCUME~1/ANNBET~1/LO...1-17-1718-03/Image1.jpg.

I have no clue what changed. I tried Restarting my computer, and unplugging and reconnecting the scanner.

I still have Photoshop Elements 6, and am able to Import from Scanner successfully. I find this very puzzling.

Have attempted to search for the file that 'already exists', and with the information provided above, am unable to locate it on my computer.
