The exclusion "to exclude media category with 'person' ..." does not work, when images are assigned to a sub-category or tags within this category / sub-category. Photoshop Elements / Organizer version 10.0 (20110914.m.17521)

HI Andreas,

Can you please explain exactly what are you doing?

This is what I tried on my organizer. Named a few people and dragged their name tags to some other sub-category under People category. Right clicking these name tags, I get an option to exclude media containing the selected tag and it does work for me.

Please mention some steps of your workflow so that I can try it out at my end correctly.

Thanks

Hi Andaleeb,
sorry for the unspecific description. Excluding pictures works, when you manually select all single tags and sub-categories. But not works the automatically excluding of the sub-categories and tags, when you are excluding a categorie. See attachment:

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for a detailed reply. I get you point now and its happening the same way on my machine too.

As a workaround, you can try creating smart albums for such frequently used searches. Smart Albums get updated on their own, as more media is added to the catalog.

For e.g perform this exclude search that you want to do, by individually excluding all people tags from the tag tree and then click Options button (present above the grid, next to Show All) >> Save search as smart album. The smart album is added to your right pane, in the albums pane.

If you use this search frequently, this smart album will help you do so on a single click of mouse.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Hello Anderleeb,
thanks a lot for the answer in a short time and the info about smart albums. These function is important, when you are searching for pictures with two specific persons. With this function you exclude all other persons with one click. Please inform me, if these bug will be fixed in version 10.
