Photoshop elements 9 Oganizer says it has a problem and needs to close within a few seconds of opening. What is wrong?

Far too many possibilities from so limited information.

Has the Organizer operated without crashing in the past? If so, what changed last?

Did you import a bunch of files? If so, what type?

Did you upgrade your catalog from a previous version of Elements?

How many images in your catalog?

Have you imported video files? If so, what type? MPEG?

Is it possible to get into the Preferences before the application crashes?

I, too, get this problem. It crashes during various activities.

- Won't open at all from "Welcome Screen", or start to open and crash
- Will open if I use the direct program link (but eventually crashes for another reason).
- Hangs on loading. Task Manager says "Not Responding" but eventually opens.
- While uploading photos from camera (only happened once, but recently)
- After adding numerous photos from files on computer and stacking them. (frequently)

* Organizer has operated just fine in the past. Not sure what changed.
* Most files are either JPEG or RAW/NEF. I do have a few video files but not more than, maybe, 10. Mostly .avi files. I think there was a .mov file, too.
* Not a previous version catalog. I tried to convert a PSE5 catalog but it never worked. Now I'm re-loading/re-connecting and eventually re-tagging all gazillion of my photos.
* Yes, I can get to the preferences.

That's all I got so far. Need any more info? Any ideas?
