I installed PSE 12 in Windows 7. Now my USB CD/DVD drive is stuck with the disc inside and will not eject. This is the same problem that has been reported repeatedly elsewhere for other Adobe products.
Nope, no form of the eject command, logical or physical, would work... not even during startup or when I connected the drive to another PC!!! I googled the problem and found some advice that did work, namely restarting the installer then cancelling several screens in, but before the software was uninstalled. That loosened the installer's demonic grip on the disc drive long enough for me to release the captive disc.
This problem has been reported on previous versions of the PS Elements installer so why hasn't it been fixed? The problem seems to go back to PSE 10, at least and probably affects other products besides. My confidence in Adobe has been somewhere dented by this. A few bugs slipping through testing is unavoidable but not a repeated bug across different releases.
The fact that you responded so quickly and helpfully is great - thank you for that - but this being a long standing problem that there still isn't a fix for isn't.
