Elements 10: Backup to network drive very slow

I am doing a full backup of my Photoshop Elements 11 catalog (on a new iMac with latest OS) to a network drive (WD MyBook Live 3TB) and after 6 hours it has only backed up 15% of the catalog (which is 75 Gig Total). I did a complete Time Machine back up of the entire iMac yesterday (including Photoshop catalog) and it took < 4 hours. I've been monitoring the network connection and it is not coming close to pushing the limits of network capacity, yet while looking at application status I regularly see Photoshop Elements Organizer go red (Not Responding). There is nothing else running on the system (and nobody else logged in), and the network hard drive is virtually empty (2.5T free). Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to speed this up?

Just for comparison, I would try to backup on an external USB drive. I'd expect no more than 2 hours for a 75 Gig catalog. Then I would see the time needed to copy from the USB drive to the network drive via your OS. Generally an Organizer backup takes little more time than a simple copy.
