When does this error occur? When attempting to install the trial? When launching it for the first time? When launching it after is has already launched successfully in the past? When working in the Editor or Organizer?

Having Lightroom 3.5 on the system should have nothing to do with this issue.

You get this error during installation?

Have you tried reinstalling? If that doesn't work, I'd try this solution:

French version of the product?

Does this happen when launching the Editor or the Organizer, or are you simply launching the desktop shortcut (Welcome Screen)?
