Is photoshop only able to edit actual pictures or can we upload say a written phrase and edit that? The image I uploaded below is what I am referring to. I would like to make the background translucent.

You can enter text in Photoshop to create your image.

But if you only have an image to start with, you won't be able to convert pixels into editable text.

Our church is trying the trial version of Photoshop right now to see if it has what we need. I don't see where I can enter text. The trial may not even have that capability.

The trial is a fully functioning version of Photoshop.

Use the text tool.

Do I dare ask where this tool is? I don't see it. When I go to Myphotshop.com Ican upload photos, organize my library, edit an image, customize my gallery and edit my profile. I don't see where I can enter text in any of these. I am so sorry, but I did warn you that I am new to this! :)

Photoshop.com is not the same as Photoshop. Photoshop.com offers very limited editing.

You probably want to download the trial of Photoshop, or Photoshop Elements.
