Photoshop: CS6 doesn't always see that a file has been changed

This is becoming a more frequent problem for me. Sometimes after working on a file for a while I will hit command-s to save, and nothing will happen the save progress bar won't show up. I'll look at the "close window" button in the upper left of the window, and it won't have a dot in it–indicating that the file has not been changed. However when I jump over to the finder and check the date modified, it does not reflect the correct time, and if I were to close the window, Photoshop would not prompt me to save the file, and my changes would be lost.

I've lost enough work now due to this problem that I've started recognize the problem when it's happening, and I can perform a save as without a problem. However, this seems to be happening more often. Perhaps this has something to do with background saving?

This seems to happen more often when working in full screen mode for some reason.

Continuing the conversation here from the thread that was solved for another user. How did you go about your uninstall/reinstall?

I unistalled using the unistaller, but preserved the preferences. Then I redownloaded from the creative cloud, and updated using the application manager. Not sure if you were looking for something more specific then that. Thanks for following up on this Jeffrey. It has been quite troublesome.

This problem seems to persist in Photoshop CC.
