Photoshop: CS6 will not open scratch file because of disk error

I get an error when trying to open Photoshop CS6. "Could not open a scratch file because of a disk error." "Could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted). If I right click on the Photoshop CS6 Shortcut I can open as an"administrator" but when this happens I can't seem to drag an image from a Windows 7 explorer window. I'm not sure if these two problems are related or not but my production has now come to a screeching halt.

Hi everyone,

The Photoshop team has released an update to CS6 (version to fix a number of issues with the initial logic for which drive to pick for the initial scratch disk. You should get the update automatically or you can download it directly at:

This fix has also been put into Adobe Photoshop CC which was released on Monday. A similar fix went into Bridge and InDesign (I don't have the versions handy sorry). Let us know if you are still having problems.
