Photoshop: CS6 stops responding to command and requires a log out in Windows 7

Not sure if anyone has had this happen, but I'm running the latest update of Photoshop CS 6 extended, version 13.0.1 x64, and sometimes as I'm working a file, Photoshop will stop responding to commands such as resizing and nudging. Then in a panic, I would save and close out the file. It saves successfully most of the time and then when I go to open the file, it just acts as though nothing happens. I go under "File", then "Open", then it goes to the modal window to allow me to select the file. I select the file I want to open, then the window just disappears and nothing... no progress bar, nothing. I try to repeat this and the only way to remedy this is to log out of windows and or reboot. I tried closing out Photoshop without logging out and same non-responsiveness.
