Photoshop CS6 has replaced my Shape layer thumbnails with an "shape icon" instead of my actual shape preview! How am I supposed to work on a file that is heavily laden with shapes when I can't see the thumbnails anymore? I have tried resizing the thumbnails to no avail. It just displays this new icon for shapes.

It was this:

Now it's this:

My thoughts precisely. Why has this been implemented?

It's frustrating me endlessly!

This is a known issue when working with shapes of certain dimensions, such as the line in your screenshot. Any time the shape thumbnail would end up shorter than the thumbnail badge, this can happen. It can sometimes help to make the thumbnail size larger, but it looks like you have already tried that.

I realize this doesn't really help you get this working, but we are definitely aware of this issue.

Workaround to make it act more like CS5 and previous versions:
In the layers palette "panel options", change the thumbnail contents to "entire document".

I had the same problem. Just right click on the layer thumbnails and change it from "no thumbnail" to medium or large.

Im having an issue where I get fully white layer thumbnails even on transparent layers, or layers that have small objects on them. Have you seen this at all? It seems to be a setting, but I can't find how to bring back the transparent previews.
