Photoshop: CS6 Crashing (Mac)

MacPro, Quad Core Xeon, 2.4 GHz, 16 gb ram, Snow Leopard and CS6 is crashing often. PS CS5 with same equipment is stable. PS CS6 is not new anymore and the MacPro is very mature. I am now saving every few minutes just to get some work done. This is not what I am used to after 20 years of Photoshopping.

Is there a list of conflicting apps available? Do we need to go to a newer OS version? Is Apple updating us out of the useable universe?

Without the crash log, we have no idea.

Have you installed all the Photoshop CS6 updates?

Installed updates? Check.

I have allowed PS to send crash reports many times with explanations of what I was doing a the time of crash. I will try to save crash logs and submit manually.

Also note that on 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) you may be hitting known MacOS bugs that were fixed by Apple in later OS releases.

Hey Barry,

This might be a wild goose chase, but a) have you installed some unusual fonts on your system recently, or b) are you using Arabic and/or Indic fonts, or c) do you have a large number of fonts on your machine? If yes to any of the above and/or just for good measure, try out the steps on this link and let me know if they help, ok? http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/t...

Thanks,
David

Just tried to send a crash log in this space and it said it contained profanity.

What?

I will save the log and if you wish to review I will need an email address I guess.
I would rather go back to work.

I have 219 fonts. About 6 seem to be Chinese. These were Apple default installs.
I repaired all fonts a few weeks ago and removed any that were suspect.

Howdy Barry,

Sounds like it's something other than fonts causing the trouble. I'll follow up by email, so you can send me the crash log and I can pass it along to Chris.

Thanks,
David

While Chris is looking at your crash log... are you able to reset your preferences and see if that makes the issue go away?

Here is the full information:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/963474

Here is the quick and dirty way to restore your preferences using a keyboard shortcut on launch:

Macintosh - Hold CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
A dialog will appear (before the app is fully launched) asking if you want to delete prefs. Click yes.
