Hello:

My photoshop CS6 keeps crashing. Had never happened to me on any of the previous versions and now every 2 hours or so it just crashes and closes. There is no pattern : sometimes I am using a tool, sometimes not,.....I have Windows 7 64 and never did I had any problems with CS5. And all the plugins I have installed (4 of them) worked fine on the previous version.

Howdy Cristian,

There could be a number of reasons, so we need to start eliminating possible causes. First, just cuz some third party plugins worked in the past doesn't mean that they couldn't be problematic now. I would start by removing all four and seeing if the problem goes away. Second, there could be a problem with the way your machine's background save is configured, so I would turn it off. Next, what other apps are you running at the same time? Do any "sit on top" of other apps? There have been a number of problems found recently with such apps intercepting commands and making things unstable. The same is true for third party pointer/keyboard/mouse devices. If the problem still doesn't go away, I would double-check the integrity of your font cache (unlikely a problem on Windows, but who knows if you're running any hacked fonts -- see details here: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/t...) and/or make sure you're not dealing with a specific file that's become corrupt (try using all new source material).

None of this means that the other component has the problem, but by isolating the cause, we can dig deeper and figure out where the fault lies and come up with a real (and permanent) solution.

Thanks,
David

Did you install the Photoshop 13.0.1 update?

Have you updated your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website?

Yes I have installed all the latest updates. I have just updated the lastest versions of 2 plugins (compatible with CS6) uninstalled one that is not CS6 compatible and left one that there is no info about compatibility. Will see how it goes and if it crashes again I will uninstall the later one and update the video card driver. I am trying not to do all at once so I can figure out where the problem is.
