Photoshop CS6 and Mavericks issue. PS seems to open okay, but then the computer seems to get slowed down generally and eventually programs do not respond and I can't even restart by command, I have to force restart by holding down the button. Then what happens is that when the laptob is rebooting, it gets about halfway before the screen goes black and the boot process dies. Repeated efforts result in the same. I've had to restore my computer from TimeMachine, and this has happened twice, both of which times I've had PS open. I've also noticed a problem when having iPhoto open, but I don't know if these are connected. I never had an issue when running Lion.
I have a MacBook Pro mid-2010 with 8g of ram.

That sounds like you're describing a hardware or OS problem.
Photoshop has nothing to do with booting, cannot prevent the OS from killing the app, and can't hang the entire system.

You probably should check the hard disk for problems, or have the machine checked out by Apple.
