I am running a MBP 2.66 i7 with 8gb ram, and an SSD HD (boot disk). I am running Lion 10.7.2 and CS5 12.0.4. I have third party plugins, but have the same problem regardless if they are in the plugin folder or not. The problem is that when I try to load filters like, liquify, lens correction or filter gallery on a 16megapixel file photoshop just hangs, and if I wait 10 or so minutes I only get intermittent adobe spinning wheel and apple pinwheel. The dialog box never loads and if I look in activity monitor it says the photoshop is not responding. the weird thing is that this problem just started recently. I have had the exact setup (not exactly sure if I was on 10.7.2 yet, but definitely running lion) and everything worked totally fine. I tried a full unistall and reinstall, I also tried resetting the prefs in photoshop to default, same problem. Just to check I made a new blank document 1inchx1inch 72dpi and tried to run any of those filters and they would load, albeit very slowly, and then when I apply the changes I get a pretty slow application of changes. Everything else on the computer and even within photoshop runs perfectly smooth and snappy. please help asap.

Hello! Do you have an external drive connected, or a memory card in a reader?
Any third party software that you installed recently?

When Photoshop shows serious trouble, you might try to re-create its preferences: http://adobe.ly/PS_Prefs (do read the comments, since you are using Lion)
