Photoshop CS5: getting a lot of corrupted files

I save a psd, about 120+ megabytes. I close the file. Photoshop then tells me that the file is unreadable and has reduced the file to 11.8 megabytes. this is happening to every layered file I make. It is costing me my income.
It has reached the point where I constantly save jpegs (it'll save them) as I work so that I can at least attempt to replicate the lost work.
Up until recently (within the last 2 weeks) CS5 would suddenly begin to slow down alarmingly. Knowing what was coming I would attempt to save, to no avail.
Just now I saved a file and closed it, thinking that CS5 was working fine, but it turned that file into an unreadable piece of rubbish.
Attached are the various notices that come up.

I have gone through the preferences, checked the fonts, done hardware and memory checks on my 2.8 intel iMac. This is driving me out of business.

That sounds like you may have a bad hard disk or file server storing your image files.

It could also be corruption of the files due to something else (some font managers mangled files).

But other people are not experiencing this. So most likely it is something semi-specific to your systems or your workflow.
