Photoshop crashes every time I try and open a png file. Problem started happening on 11/17/2013 - no issues opening a png file prior to that date. I tried reinstalling PS, logging out and back in to Adobe CC - neither worked.I get the error message that something went wrong then it tells me it can't fix the problem and prompts me to close PS. I am running Windows 8.

Have you installed a third party PNG plugin?
Have you tried disabling your third party plugins?

And does this happen with any other file formats?

Try to change values in Edit->Preferences->Performance for memory usage, and also opt-in some scratch disk. Worked for me in the same conditions only on Win7. I think it's still unsolved problem with png files and scratch disks since CS6.
