Photoshop: comparing two images mask

i found this thread in adobe forums:
i am also searching for a possibility to compare two images and create a precise mask from the difference between them? example: plain background and the same background with person in front. there should be a way in photoshop to compare them and result in a precise mask of the person. imagine you have a lot of photos and you need to cut them out. this would be the perfect solution if you have the plain background.
difference mode doesn't work, it needs to be a real mask.
if there is no way of doing this, i would suggest this as a new feature

Have you looked at Image>Calculations... ?

It should be able to compare any pixel data (layers and/or masks) and output the result (difference or other).
