I have been using Photoshop CC for about six months, and for the first time this week, I am unable to save my files as PNG.

Photoshop does not open any of my current PNG files either.

It also will not Save for Web.

My Image Mode is RGB. And is 8 bits.

Sounds like you might be missing your required plugins.

Did this start right after an update failed?

No, I haven't updated since I started using CC. Late 2013.
Perhaps I should download and update to the latest version?

That might help, but it sounds like you are already missing some of the required plugins for some reason - so the updater may not work because you are missing files. You may need to uninstall and reinstall.

Also, you really should pick up the updates, for the new features and the bug fixes.
