Photoshop CC: Text/No Text

As I'm new to photoshop so I was doing the How to edit a photo in Photoshop from Adobe, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-clou... The lighthouse one. I followed all the steps and had no problems until I went to add the text. First a very small box shows up and when I start typing the text nothing is there. You can see it in the layers box but not on the photo. I tried isolating just that layers box and still nothing. My settings are the same as what's in the video. Please help.

Hi Doug,

Are you sure your text layer is above your image layer? Can you share a screenshot of your layers panel or (even better) your whole Photoshop window?

Thanks,
David

Can you post that image without downsampling it? Even at full size, we can't tell what is in your layers palette.

Hi Doug,

I'm guessing what's on your top layer is your text. It's really hard to tell with the resolution you posted.

If you want, we can do a web-mediated screenshare so I can troubleshoot the problem with you. I'll follow up with an email.

Thanks,
David

Hi Doug,

Yup, this should show. There's something odd going on. Without seeing the whole application screen, however, I'm just hunting and pecking.

How about we do a screenshare and get to the bottom of your problem. I sent you an email earlier this morning. You can just respond to that.

Thanks,
David
