I just downloaded the trial of Photoshop CC and I ran into this problem:

I have 2GB Ram, 1GB Intel HD Graphics, Intel B960 processor (2.2GHz).
How ever, Image goes black when I select texts using typing tool. I tried a lot and I always have the same problem, also I had similar problem with CS6.
Can you fix it permanently? I'm tied. Black screen problem with windows 8, Black flickering in Photoshop CS6 (GPU Problem) and now, Black Screen problem with photoshop CC!!!
Please Fix it!

Kind regards,
Jonoy Joseph

The flickering display in Win8 is a Microsoft problem, and we have been working with them and the GPU vendors to get it solved.

Which Intel GPU do you have?
And have you updated the driver from Intel's website?

Same issue Chris, I hope you all figure this out, because I would really love my son to do his work on his new lab top without sacrificing his open gl performance. Cheers to the hard workers trying get this fixed, My sons labtop is running an i3 intel hd 3000 graphics card, with windows 8. Thanks if you can reply to help in any way chris other than the sacrificial reduction in performance workaround it would be greatly appreciated.

For Windows 8, we know what the problem is, and are waiting for Microsoft.
Until then, updating the video card driver from the GPU maker's website, or setting the Photoshop GPU drawing mode to "basic" will minimize the problem.

I have the same problem. Very disappointing!! I mean we are not talking about Linux, right? it's Windows 8! you should solve it before launching to the market your pricey software.

This is a Microsoft bug, in Windows 8 itself.
Updating video card drivers usually works around the Windows 8 bug.

Did you update the video driver from the GPU maker's website or Microsoft (big mistake)?

Right now, the only ways to work around the Win 8 bug are to update the video card drivers from the GPU maker, or to disable GPU drawing in Photoshop.

Using Text tool causes layer to go black..

When I go to use the text tool in PhotoshopCC on Windows 8, the screen goes black and I can't see what I am trying to do. Also, the screen sometimes flickers in Photoshop and the cursor begins to move from right to left (backwards). Any idea on why this happens and what to do? I really rely on Photoshop but I can't work like this.

My GPU is up to date and I set the Photoshop GPU drawing to basic and also tried to turn it off completely, and my screen is still flickering. Is there anything else I can try?

You're describing a common GPU driver problem, though.
Did you update the driver from the GPU maker's website, or Microsoft (big mistake)?

I have the same issue, even after updating the drivers (yesterday) from the gpu maker's website the bug stays.

Since i'm working for a Microsoft related company, i can't simply not use windows or make them buy older licenses: the company just bought 5 account for Adobe CC!!

I don't remember experiencing this bug before switching to 8.1, maybe the update brought the bug but I have a big headache thanks to the flashing canvas..

For my healt i should stop working, can you alert my boss that is not my fault?

The Win 8.1 updater installed older video card drivers for many people. You may need to re-install the updated GPU drivers.

I formatted my pc, reinstalled win8.1 and now Photoshop seems ok, it doesn't show flashing or black canvas.

Important note: i didn't install the latest gpu drivers, just what comes from standard win 8.1 installation, and i don't experience any issue. So maybe aren't the drivers the reason behind this bug

Did you read the topic? The resolution is to upgrade your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website. The Microsoft supplied drivers are several years old and contain many bugs.

I use Intel HD3000 graphics and I have the latest driver version 15.28.22.64.3517 (9.17.10.3517) for Windows 8.1 but the problem is still coming up.

Odd, we haven't seen the problem stick around after updating the drivers, and we did confirm the nature of the bug with Microsoft and the GPU vendors.
for the time being, you may want to disable GPU drawing in Photoshop's preferences. And contact Intel support so they can look into why this is still a problem on your system.

That works around the driver problems - but updating the driver is the best solution, because it also picks up other bug fixes made to the driver.
