Photoshop: Can't save PSD to PDF with color settings

I upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS6 extended (Cloud). I'm running Windows 8. A file that I consistently used as a base for advertisements on CS2 will not save as a pdf on CS6. It will let me make changes and save as PSD and Tiff. I tried changing the 'color conversion' selection on the Save as PDF dialogue window from "Convert to destination" to "No Conversion" and it saves. I don't know if the newspaper will take it this way (really don't understand what this conversion is doing). All my software is legit and I am authorized (single user).

Note: This topic was created from a reply on the Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because of a program error" messa... topic.

Do you get any errors Miles?

Have you updated to 13.0.1?

Can you provide us screenshots of your Save Adobe PDF dialog so we can see what you have selected when you are Converting to Destination?

I do get the error that was reflected in the original thread: "Could not save as
"\..." because of a program error.

I'm running version 13.01 x64 extended

Here's the image that shows the color selection box that must be set to "No Conversion" rather than the default Convert to Destination"

This was the only way I found around it...

Can you post the contents of the PSErrorLog.txt file from your photoshop preferences folder?

That's the right file, and that error is very informative!

The problem is with a color profile that Photoshop can't find. (we have a name, but can't find the actual profile data)

Is your document using a color profile that isn't saved to disk anywhere (something non-standard)?

Have you had any other problems with color profiles on your system?

And would you be willing to send us a copy of that file?

This is on a new computer system (hence the upgrade to CS6 via Cloud) and no, I've never had this problem before. I have not modified any color profiles or palettes in Photoshop ever. I did a standard install of this software.

Which file would you like? The file I was trying to save to pdf? How would I get it to you as it is a psd file that is 24MB large -- won't fit through the upload option on this screen...

Yes, the PSD the fails to save to PDF. Compress/ZIP it and send it to ccox (at) adobe (dot) com. If it is too big for email after compression, send me a message and we'll work something out.

I downloaded it.

But I can't get any errors from saving it with the settings you indicated.

Hi,

I ran into this problem on Windows 10 running Photoshop CS6 Extended. I checked Photoshop's PSError Log and it showed similar entries to the ones Miles posted. I was able to solve the problem in PS by going to Edit > Color Settings... > and saving all profiles in the Working Space area to disk that were not present on disk. After that I was able to save to PDF.

So thanks Chris and Miles for putting me on the right track to solve this problem.

Best Wishes,
Thomas
