Photoshop: Apply new filter to multiple layers

It would be nice if it was possible to apply a new filter to multiple layers at once.

Today, with multiple (pixel or SO) layers selected all filters become grayed out.
I wish they weren't.

If both pixel and SO layers are selected, filters that don't support SO should not be available. If layers that don't support filters (like adjustment layers) are selected, the filters should be grayed out (like today).

The only issue is what to preview when choosing the filter settings (as it will get crazy slow to update many layers at once).
I think a good solution is to give a warning saying "only the top layer will be shown in the preview" (a bit similar to what is done when you edit one of multiple filters on a smart object) with a "never show again" checkbox.
