Photoshop 2020 is not finding plugins. I have moved them to the new folder as I’ve always done, but this time neither Topaz or Nik is recognised. I’ve tried it on my other computer and it’s the same.

I’m afraid that doesn’t help, I’m on Windows 10, not Mac. I’ve re-installed some plugins direct from the manufacturer site and they’re still not working. I have the same issue on my other laptop. I’ve spoken to others tonight who have a similar problem with Nik and Topaz.

Are they current versions of Nik and Topaz? Or are they the old Google Nik versions?

FYI:

I had the same issue with the installer from the original Google NIK plugins.
I doesn't recognize Adobe PS 2020 as a valid application anymore.

But, don't worry, it's simpel to resolve:
Just select C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2020\Plug-ins as the plugin directory, and everything works just fine, after a reinstall with the NIK installer.
I'm using the (old) nikcollection-full-1.2.11 installer. Works fine with PS 2020!

I'm using current versions of Nik and Topaz. I've re-installed some of them and none are working.

Did you keep your previous version of Photoshop installed? I'm almost afraid to upgrade after reading all the problems with Bridge, ACR and PS.

No, I didn't unforunately. I don't seem to be able to get through to anyone that I'm not on a Mac or that I have tried all the previous solutions, this is a new issue.

Mary, I just read this in another discussion. Can you check this to see if it helps you?

from: Patrick Philippot

A while ago, Adobe had advertised that PS plugins should now be stored in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC and that future versions of PS might not support plugins stored in  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop xxxx\Plug-ins.

So, I moved everything to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC and everything is working fine and nothing has to be moved when a new version is installed.

Thanks Rosa. My folders had already migrated there after re-installing from the manufacturer so I re-installed photoshop this morning and that seemed to re-link them. Good to know plug-ins won't be an issue in future versions.

That's awesome! I'm glad it worked for you Mary. I've yet to install PS 2020 but I'm just waiting for a bit until some of the bugs get ironed out.

We're looking into this. For the time being, install in the shared Creative Cloud location: https://chl-author-preview.corp.adobe.com/content/help/en/photoshop/kb/plug-ins-photoshop-troubleshooting.html#Locatepluginfolders

  • Win: Hard Drive\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC
  • macOS: Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/[Photoshop version number]/File Formats.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Photoshop 2020: Doesn ́t see Nik Collection on filter menu.

Just reporting a bug. Old and amazing Nik Collection is not been recognized by new PS 2020. It ́s not listed in the FILTER menu. Reinstalled and nothing. Please fix this! Otherwise will be impossible to use this version. Nik Collection plugin inside PS is extremely important for a photographer! Using W10 64.

Just tried Jeffrey Tranberry's solution. The good news - it worked. The not so good news (but not too bad) is that when you clicked to apply the filter, it did not work. However, if you then clicked the top top item on the filter menu (the last filter used) it works. Weird but usable. Thanks!!

Could you please post the link? I’m curious as to whether you had the same problem that I had - see below:

I can't share the link as it needed my licence number, sorry. If you contact them via Nik support they should come back to you quite quickly.
