Photoshop: Redraw issue when image background is set to Black

Photoshop has suddenly become glitchy when I switch the background to black, or select black for the custom colour. It's fine with any other colour. But with black the workspace isn't refreshing if I move or zoom in or out of the image.

In this image I previously had Light Gray background, switched to black, then zoomed out several times.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

This is running on macOS Mojave v.10.14.2

P.S. I can get the background to refresh properly if I set the custom colour to almost fully black and use #000001

Howdy Hazel,

It sounds like your graphics card might be having issues.  Have you tried turning off GPU in PS under Preferences > Performance?  Let me know if that solves the issue.

It may also help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.
