Photoshop: Won't open any files in its browser/recent files list

The files I'm trying to open are stored in the Creative Cloud folder (in sub-folders), and some on the computer and some on the server. If I go into Finder and open the files they will open fine- its just if I try to use Photoshop's own recent file list.

I tried uninstalling (kept preferences) and reinstalling via Creative Cloud.

Photoshop CC 2017, Mac 10.12.5

Do you get a specific error? I would try resetting the recent files list and see if a newly generated list of recents work.

Just says "Cannot open the selected item because the file could not be found."
Will try that now, thanks... Okay, nope problem remains. Also I notice if I go File > Open I get the same problem.

Is the file on the local drive or on a network drive or server?

All of the above. I have some in the creative cloud folder on my computer, some in my desktop/downloads folder and some on the works server.

This is possibly an OS issue. I updated the OS (v 10.12.6) and I'm now able to open using File>Open. Also File>Open Recent works but the welcome screen's recent list doesn't work still.. Curious.
