Photoshop: 3D disabled, will not open .OBJ files

I have downloaded some .OBJ files for some models in a game. I require these .OBJ files to do the work I want to do.
When I try to open the .OBJ files with Photoshop CS6 this error message pops up:
"Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try to open the file by clicking "open" on the program, the .OBJ files is un-clickable.
I have opened these .OBJ files before on Adobe Photoshop CC when I used the demo.
I do not know how to fix it and I am definitely sure that it is a problem with my Mac or the files. Moreover, I can not access the 3D features on Photoshop CS6 e.g. I wanted to make some 3D text but I could not find the 3D feature so I had to use Adobe Illustrator CS6. I think these two problems are related because they are both 3D.
Thanks.

If 3D isn't enabled it's likely your graphics card doesn't support 3D in Photoshop. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/...
