Photoshop will not open any PNG files. Every time I try to open a PNG it says not a PNG file. I have tried with numerous files, including files that I know to be PNGs and the same error message always pops up. I know the workaround where I can open the file in MS paint and resave it, but I pay for Photoshop and it should be able to open simple files that it's meant to work with. I also have updated Photoshop to the most current version to no avail.

How much preparation have you done to learn about this program? Have you done any study, perhaps using the large library of online instruction courses?

There is a search box at the top of this screen where you could type in a concise phrase describing the issue and be led to lots of resources...

Try this link: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/can-t-open-png-in-photoshop/td-p/9565188?page=1

Wow Dave, thanks for literally nothing. I'm actually quite well-versed in Photoshop, but thanks for assuming I know nothing. Not that it's any of your business, but I have used that tricky search bar at the top of this screen and none of the solutions I found solved my problem. That's why I'm creating a new post. This seems to be a common issue and I haven't found any fixes yet. Did you even read my post? Because you linked a solution that simply says this has been fixed in the latest version and I included in my post that I've already made sure to update Photoshop to the most current version and it didn't solve the issue. If you don't have anything productive to say, maybe just keep your snarky, condescending comments to yourself. Looking through some of your responses to other people's issues, it seems like most people don't find your "help" all that helpful either.

Can you post one of the png files that has this problem so we can help troubleshoot? (zip it up and post via CC files or dropbox)

Travis: If you are only here to insult people and are trying for angry argument, then you have come to the wrong place. If you truly want help from others, try being a little less combative.
