When opening photoshop the new welcome screen opens automatically. This is an irritating nuisance. How can this be prevented from opening automatically?

Hi Bryan,

Please see this document for instructions to disable the Welcome screen:

I would recommend the first solution. After the Welcome Screen loads, scroll down to the bottom of the New Features, Getting Started, or Tips & Techniques sections.

Select "Don't Show Welcome Screen Again."

To display the Welcome Screen again, choose Help > Welcome.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can't close welcome screen in Photoshop.

I'm on latest release of CC, running on a macbook pro running OSX 10.10.4

I'm in Bridge and select a sequence of photos, tools/photoshop/load files into photoshop layers. After loading the layers I am left with the welcome screen loaded on top as a modal window with no means to close it. The top of the welcome screen appears to be 'underneath' the OSX menu bar, so I don't have visibility of or access to any 'close' button.

I have tried scrolling down the welcome screen and selecting the 'don't load on startup', but then I can't save that option because the only way I have to get out of photoshop is to force close it because the welcome screen won't let me do anything.

Perhaps pertinent:

I am running on an external monitor, above my mac pro screen. Both screens are active and act as a visual continuation of each other in the way that they appear (i.e. I go 'up' from my mac pro screen to get to my big screen). I have noticed that lately (maybe past 6 mths) cc apps have become not good at recognising where they are running and open dialogs on the wrong screen.

Here's a pic:

I have seen a workaround here (to disable the welcome screen), which I have yet to try:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/...
...but I don't want a workaround I want a fix. The welcome screen should never load in such a way that it can't be closed.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Photoshop restart should place the welcome screen in the center of the screen if you've detached a second monitor.
