Purchased a new iMac Pro and it was upgraded to Catalina as I was going through upgrading different programs.  Now I cannot save new images to the Desktop, though it will save images back that I have already sited there???

yes, it's been advised for a long time now not to immediately upgrade to Catalina if using Adobe apps.

Dave, I am wondering if what you are experiencing might be a permissions problem, and not a Photoshop problem. I just updated to Catalina a few days ago as well, and also upgraded from Photoshop CS6 to CC 2019 20.0.6 two days ago.

One thing which immediately became apparent with Catalina, is that Apple has once again tightened up security. For example, some files and folders which were formerly at the top level of my hard drive had been moved to a "Security" folder by Catalina, because we are apparently no longer allowed to create folders and files in that location. As a result, I had to move those folders and files into my Home folder instead.

Just now, after reading your comment, I launched Photoshop and created a simple image. I was successfully able to save it to my Desktop as a .psd, .png and .jpg file. Thus, I think your problem lies elsewhere, and possibly related to user permissions. But, this is just a guess.

If that "Thanks" is to me, Dave, you are most welcome. If not, well, shut my mouth!  :)

I can't always save my work (PS2020 & Catalina).  Sometimes, but not always.  Stuck at 0%.  have to crash the computer and all work lost.  Not happy.
