Reset preferences, restarted computer. Open my file, no change.
I read through this thread and they found a work-around. The text tool doesn't work until I open a NEW document. Then it works normally in all my other files, and continues to work until I shut the computer down. Upon reboot, it doesn't work anymore... until I open a NEW document.

Would you please tell us what OS you're using? I've filed this with engineering for investigation, but we could use more
Thank you,
Hannah

The issue should not be that Adobe is making changes... it should be that those changes need to be actually bug free when they get released.

First a question and then would you please try a workaround and let me know if it addresses the issue for you?
Question: Are you opening a non-RGB document?
If you are, would you please open a new RGB document and then check for your text highlighting/cursor again?
Thank you,
Hannah

Edit: I just realised after opening the RGB document and going back to my CMYK document eversthing worked again. I didn't even shut down/restart anything. weird...

Please see the instructions here for the workaround for this issue. Open a new document in RGB and your text highlight and cursor will appear, even in other documents.
Thanks,
Hannah

^^ it's a preference, so that's the how it works. If you don't want placeholder text, uncheck it. Thanks

All of a sudden today my free transform bounding box disappeared. I've read through a bunch of this and none of the suggestion work. Even when I place something the transform bounding box doesn't appear (attached screenshot). Please help!

Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Photoshop: Transform Controls Disappear.

The transform handles are not showing in my screen on the most updated photoshop. I also checked the show transform controls on option bar that is not helping either.

Ever since the update,
> I cannot view bounding boxes
> Cannot view transform tool edges or text box edges
> Cannot view the text being selected/highlighted
Particularly frustrating because literally no work can proceed without being able to control these.

When I select the lasso tool and place points on the artboard you can't see the line placed by either mouse or pen.
You have to randomly cross over the area where you placed the first point to connect the lasso. It's supper annoying.

I'm on Mac Mojave with the latest Photoshop CC 2019 installed.
I tried all of the following:
- Ticking / Unticking / Ticking again Show Transformation Controls: didn't work
- Ticking / Unticking / Ticking again Show Extra: didn't work
- Opening an existing RGB document or new RGB document, first thing as soon as I start Photoshop: nothing
- disabling OpenGL drawing in Photoshop's preferences: nothing
I am thinking to go back to CC 2018!
