There are many reasons why a server version of Photoshop could be very usefull. It could be part of an editorial workflow to optimize images (resample, color conversion, ... ), it could be very usefull as engine to a web application to do heavy image processing, ...

I suspect the workload-requirements and the nature of the processes make a huge difference between Photoshop and Indesign and their suitability for providing server-solutions.

an editorial workflow to optimize images (resample, color conversion, ... )
Could you elaborate on that?
How do you utilise the Indesign-server in your workflow at current?
Do you access the server from proper computers or tablets/handhelds for example?
