Photoshop: Send layer to a specific location in layers stack

In some cases I want to send a layer to a specific location in my layers stack. So far I can only send it to front/back, or to forward/backward.

This would be extremely helpful if there are many layers in the stack, since dragging it with the mouse to its place can be very annoying.

Regards,
Gabriel

It's annoying to use your mouse to position something??? How do you get anything done at all?

Hi there,

I think you don't get the point here. I'm not talking about positioning something on the canvas but in the layers panel itself. Let's say you have about 100 layers stacked on top of each other it would be nice to have the mentioned feature.

Besides, I think your comment has no value at all to my request anyway. Think first and then try to make yourself useful in this world.

I definitely understand what you're asking for, but how exactly do you think it could be implemented? If you have 100 layers in your stack, how does Ps know where you want the layer to go?

Good question. I haven't really thought about the exact functionality. It could work like this:
Selects both objects with your 'mouse' on the canvas and then do something like 'bring to top layer, or bring to bottom layer'.

Anyway, I find myself doing that kind of work in my layers panel everyday and it's not very efficient. In the creative process I often don't care so much about the order in my layers panel but If I have to forward my file to let's say a software developer then I need to take care of it.
