Photoshop Save for Web replacement suggestions??

Like many others on this forum I am a heavy user of Save for Web and was taken aback to see it tagged with the legacy brand and relegated to the Export menu. Having read the official blog post on the issue http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201... I think the writing is on the wall for Save for Web, even though it may hang around for some time as a legacy feature.

At this point, rather than railing against the inevitable, I think it's probably more constructive to communicate to Adobe the things that must be improved in the Export dialog before it can even begin to be thought of as a replacement for SFW.

For starters, I've just done a comparison, outputting a web banner to jpg using Export As and SFW and found the compression artifacts at equivalent file sizes to be significantly worse when processed by the Export As module. Of all of the things this module does, delivering the best compression for a given file size is for me the single most important function. I think that if the development team reverse this and start delivering better quality compressed images with Export As than SFW can deliver then they would get more support from users of the old workflow.

Any other thoughts on what needs improving in the Export module?
