Photoshop program error on launch on MacOS

Hi, I'm having issues with Photoshop CC running on a Mac, OS X 10.9.5 (so not Yosemite).

I have to trash my prefs.psp daily or I get the 'Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error' message. Cannot attach .psp file as requested in the Photoshop Blog, but can post contents if required.

Latest version of PS CC installed.

This is incredibly frustrating, so would appreciate a fix.

This is a daily issue which needs to be resolved. I've explored similar issues and am rewarded with the 'trash photoshop settings' response. That is not a fix, it's a temporary fix to a much bigger issue.

Is it just me, or is this is kind of like shouting into the wind?

Good to know, thanks!

Quick update - I've not had to trash preferences today. Two things are different - I installed the most recent Wacom driver (release earlier this month) and I'm working from my home network.

So it could have been either the driver, or there are network issues, though there isn't a proxy in the office as far as I'm aware.

Will see how things are in the next few days and if it has indeed fixed the issue. I'll keep you posted.

Which model MacBookPro are you using? This may have something to do with the OS switching GPUs while the app is launching.

You can try turning off Automatic Graphics Switching in the OS preferences and it will probably avoid this issue.

It's a mid-2012 MBP, 15 inch, 2.6 GHz Intel i7 core. I'll try turning off AGS, I don't have a retina screen so should be fine.
