Photoshop PDF Exporting Issue

I'm running into new problems when I export PDFs from Photoshop. In all my years I have been able to Save the original PSD. Then do a Save As PDF, then close without saving changes. All of the sudden in the last 3 days, EVERY time I export it saves over my original PSD with a flattened PSD. I'm carefully reading the dialogs when I'm doing this, but I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. I've had to remake my last few projects and I'm losing a lot of time because of this. Anyone have any ideas besides saving multiple backup files on separate drives?  Did something change about photoshop exporting in the last few days. Thanks!

You chose not to save layers when you saved the PDF file.  Then when you saved as PSD you didn't turn the option to save layers back on.

No, nothing changed in Photoshop.

Yes, that's correct, but I saved the PSD first. Then I exported as a PDF (unchecked the option to preserve layers) Then I just closed the file without saving.

In the past this has always preserved the original photoshop file while giving me a flattened PDF on the side. It no longer appears to work that way, I just tested it again.  I will be more careful to check that my original save settings are staying put. Thank you for the quick reply.

If you save the PSD with layers - then it will have layers, regardless of how you saved the PDF.  Just pay attention to the options when saving so you don't forget to enable layers when saving PSD.
