I want to use a desktop PC at home and a Mac at school, and I want to use Photoshop on them both. Is there any way that my Photoshop CS5 license can work on both a Mac and a PC at the same time? I know that when you purchase a Photoshop license, it can be activated on two computers, but I don't know if it can work on both a Mac and a PC. I also know that you can buy/ask for a crossplatform (or something like that), so that your Windows license will be transferred to a Mac license. But I want my license to work on both platforms. Is this possible?

I don't want to spend 8000 kroners (1000$) on a new Photoshop license for Mac, just because I'll be buying an already expensive Macbook Pro for college. I'll have to bum out on buying a Mac next week (and buy a PC instead) if I can't use my Photoshop CS5 license on it.

No, the CS5 license is for one platform only (Mac or Windows).
With Photoshop CC, you can use the product on both platforms.

Thank you for replying so fast! This helpes a lot.
Would the best option then be to upgrade from Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CC? Is that even possible?

Unfortunately there is no upgrade path from the (now quite) old CS5 to CC.
But you could use the photography plan (Photoshop+LightRoom+Bridge) for 10$ per month.
