Photoshop: mask override?

i have few layers in a group.
the group has a mask, so i can paint in and out certain parts of the content in the group.

however there is particular safe area of the group image which has to be always visible respectively hidden.

the only solution i'm using is to have duplicate of the group with the safe area as a mask on top or below the group where i'm painting.

is there any other solution without having duplicate.

if not, i thought about something like mask override. a kind of mask which overrides all masks in certain group, or maybe this could be a feature of a second mask as the vector mask?

any advise?
