Photoshop/Lightroom MacPro message "Unable to verify subscription status"

I am a long time subscriber to Photoshop CC, paid monthly, most recently 11/23/18.  The Photoshop apps have previously worked fine on my mid 2010 MacPro.  Several months ago, the apps stopped working.  Anytime I try to open any of the apps if gives me the above "Unable to verify subscription status" error and I can't get in to use the app.  I have been on the phone numerous times with tech support totaling several hours of time.  My subscription is verified and I have a good connection.  But they have never been able to fix the problem.  Last night I was on with tech support and we were able to create a new user and when logged in with that user I could use the apps.  But not once I went back to my normal user account.  They ultimately decided they couldn't help me fix this and suggested I call Apple since it had something to do with the user account or keychain or something else they weren't responsible for.
That doesn't seem like a very feasible answer to me.  I don't have AppleCare and am 200 miles from the nearest Apple store.
I would love to know if someone has had a similar problem that they fixed or any advice people may have on how I could fix this.
