While deleting keywords Photoshop Lightroom 6.7 stopped working.

Got this message

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
      available.

                                                         Close Program

I searched for similar problems but found none.  This took place while working in keywords.

Operating system Windows 10 64 bit.  All updates done.  Memory 8 MB.  Available drive space 31 GB. Have used this program for a year with no problems.  Now when I deleted multiple highlight keywords, it refused to delete, and made me take them one at a time which I did. 2 of them deleted and on the 3 rd one the above problem took place.
Reset computer - no positive results.  Checked virus - negative results.

I would like to save some keywords, but if necessary am ready to delete all of them.  Can I run the catalog to start up?  Can I reinstall the program?

And if you reboot the computer, does it continue to not respond?

I did a reboot of the computer - no result.  I set the preferences to default - no results.
If the program will not run, I obviously can't get to Help which  enables an update.  So how do I update then.
I can only think of uninstall, then installing the program again with the latest.
Please help.

"All updates done", except LR!  Why not update LR to the latest version and see whether that helps? We are on 6.10.1 now, four versions later than you are using.

Victoria's suggestion is my current mantra: 'If all else fails, reboot'.

You can manually download and install LR updates from here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

THANKS!  I am so indebted.  So profoundly pleased!  The upgrade worked flawlessly.
Could you please this question.  I got started with keywording and found it useful.  To explain - for names, individuals, family members, particular flower arrangements, animals, etc. it is useful if used along with collections.  Which also has its use.
NOW if I go back in and try to clean up keywording as I did before the  problem occurred  WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.
Please answer for me.  Or better tell me how the fix took place.
