The character palette reads horizontal scaling as 100%, so i'm guessing there is a default that needs reset, but I can't find it. How do I set this back to 100%? Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve,

In the Character Panel, you will find controls for the horizontal and vertical scaling of text.  100% is the default.  If Photoshop is automatically scaling your new type at 130%, then one of these two controls must be set to 130, but you can fix things by either changing them back to 100 or clicking the panel's flyout menu and choosing Reset Character.  If existing type is scaled, then you probably have a transformation applied to it -- which is totally different.

Thanks,
David
