Hi everyone !
For some months now I have a huge problem which start to really annoy me on Photoshop CC. I hoped Photoshop CC 2020 would fix the problem but not at all.

Basically, whenever I use a shortcut using Alt, Ctrl or Shift, 1 time out of 2 or 3, Photoshop freezes. To unfreeze it I need to Alt + Tab out and Alt + Tab in, then the software work normally but freeze again when I use these shortcuts again.
At the beginning it was just unconfortable but bearable. Now I work all day on Photoshop and I need to Alt Tab in and out 200-300 times a day and I can't doing this, it's driving me crazy !

I tried to totally delete and reinstall everything. I even totally uninstalled Adobe Creative Cloud then reinstall everything. But this freeze problem keep striking. I have no idea what's going on actually.

Do you have any idea please ?

Thank you

I once had very similar symptoms on a Mac and it turned out to be related to my keyboard going slowly bad or making a bad connection. It wasn't a problem every time I used those overused keys, but very often. That may not have anything to do with your computer, but something to bear in mind. I assume you've also trashed Prefs (saving whatever presets aren't already saved to disk)?  Corruption extends to some of the strangest things—in fact, the stranger, the more commonly it is a corrupted preference file.

I haven't heard anyone else complaining about the problem, but if dozens come forward, then it could be something in the Windows version you're running on your version of the OS. You might want to add that information.

I also tried several keyboard and sadly it doesn't change much things :/.
Yep I trashed prefs too and again, this bug keeps haunting me haha ! A friend told me it might be graphic card problem as it freezes but that would be weird as it's only related to my shortcuts :s

I didn't realize I haven't talked about that ! I work on a PC with Windows 10 !

Well drat. I was hoping it would be something very simple. Maybe when people get back from MAX someone will recognize the problem. Fingers crossed anyway. It would be driving me crazy, too. Have you tried it with no other programs running—in case one is causing a conflict? Or in Safe Mode, perhaps?

Howdy Bastien,

My first instinct would be to try without your tablet connected.  We frequently hear of tablet/app conflicts.  Now, assuming THAT isn't your problem...

Do other apps have similar problems?  What other apps are you running?  How stable is your network connection?  Could something be going on in the background?

How about we start there...we'll get this sorted for you.

Thanks,
David

So I tested what you said David. And indeed it might come from my tablet. If I use all of these shortcuts with my mouse + keyboard I don't have any problems. But if replace my mouse by my Wacom Intuos Pro, the problem starts again. I tried to uninstall everything from wacom and reinstall all the drivers and I keep having this same issue when I'm using my tablet. :/

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I actually hear this all the time.  Unfortunately, you're going to need to follow up with Wacom as the fault is on their side...8-(

Sorry!

Check my solutions I posted here

https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/photoshop-freeze-and-lagging-solution

I found 3 different solutions and I use a wacom. huion and UClogic tablet.

I hope that help!

That problem make me crazy, it's the windows ink conflict between windows and adobe.
In the past windows use WINTAB as some kind of driver inside windows when you use a tablet like wacom, now with the new updates they changed to WINDOWS INK. If you click alt or shift etc, you will see a little popup, that means that is using windows ink. You need to disable that to force photoshop use the old wintab or wacom driver to calculate the pressure etc.

Check my solutions there and let me know if works! :)
