I would like to learn Photoshop to make my own textures for 3d modeling. I don't know what to study though? Should I just learn things like levels and curves? anybody have any recommendations? if possible making normal and specular maps as well with my textures. is there a difference between photoshop, photoshop elements and photoshop lightroom?

what I would like to learn is how to make metal, wood and concrete with photoshop but, be able to learn how to mix two colors or images so I can have painted wood or concrete with cracks and so on.

HERE is 2 pictures I found online of what i am talking about.

You probably want to read the descriptions of the applications on adobe.com.
Photoshop is the professional software that includes 3D features. Elements is the consumer version that lacks the 3D features. Lightroom is a workflow product for photographers.
