Photoshop Feature Request — make ACR filter work in LAB mode

I do much of my Photoshop work in LAB mode. The ACR filter is helpful at times, but it’s not directly available in LAB mode.  My workaround is to —
•  convert the target layer to a smart object;
•  click the smart object to edit the layer as a separate file;
•  convert the file to RGB mode;
•  apply the ACR filter;
•  convert the modified file to LAB mode, and
•  save the file back to the smart object.

This is a bit tedious, and I would like to see it automated within Photoshop and made available in the form of direct access to the ACR filter in LAB mode.

Ideally, everything should work in Lab mode, with Ps doing the RGB conversion/math invisibly in the background.
