Howdy Johannes,

Photoshop uses the keyboard shortcuts/keyboard layout for whatever language is installed.  So, if you're running the English Photoshop on a German OS, Photoshop will expect English keys/layout.

You have two options.  You can either install the German keyboard layout (or even switch your install to German -- it's free) OR you can simply manually change the shortcuts that are giving you trouble.

To install the German keyboard shortcuts, they used to be online -- I'm trying to locate where now.

To install the German version of the app, go to your Creative Cloud app, click the right flyout control at the upper right and click Preferences.  Click Creative Cloud and choose Deutsch as the App Language

To change a specific keyboard shortcut, click Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, choose the shortcut in question and assign a new combo.

Hope this helps,
David

Hello David, thanks for your reply. I've always used the English version because there are more people using it and making tutorials and stuff. I'm looking for a way to install the German keyboard only. The layer selecting shortcuts are bothering me. It's shift+alt+. for example and that's not a customisable shortcut.

Howdy Johannes,

Unfortunately, shortcut combos that are not customizable do require the compatible-language keyboard.  That said, there's nothing stopping you from having both German AND English user interfaces, switching between then as you'd like.  That was actually part of what we built into the new Help system for CS6 -- you can look at steps in one language and then switch to another.

To install the German version of the app, go to your Creative Cloud app, click the right flyout control at the upper right and click Preferences.  Click Creative Cloud and choose Deutsch as the App Language.  Then, just download Photoshop again -- it will go quickly, since only the language and support files are actually needed.

Thanks,
David
