Just installed Yosemite on my iMac and MacBook Air last night. Whenever I select the Lasso Tool, the system hangs up and I have to Force Quit Photoshop Elements to get the system back. I have PE11 on the iMac and PE12 on the MacBook Air and the problem exists on both.

All selection tools except the basic square selection method seem to cause this hang.

Turns out that PE13 does NOT have these problems with Yosemite. I had to fork over the price of an upgrade. ADOBE didn't blink!

Using Yosemite and PS CS6. Lasso and magnetic lasso work fine, but polygonal lasso is completely, unusably broken. This is catastrophic for my day-to-day workflow. How did this make it out of beta?

Please let Apple know about the issues introduced in MacOS 10.10, so they can get information to fix the OS issues.

Already done, however, I mentioned this problem to Apple when I first used the beta version of Yosemite awhile ago and nothing was apparently done.

Bellnwistle, this is a thread on Elements. You will want to install this plug-in with CS6 if you haven't already. It should correct your problems with CS6: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/p...

I have the same problem. I use my elements 12 to create announcements for my store on a daily basis and yesterday when I downloaded OS X Yosemite elements 12 stopped working, hangs immediately and my macbook starts the fan and runs slow due to elements problems, somebody should fix this problem or else return the money back.

Please let Apple know about the problems you are having with their new OS version -- they'll need additional information to fix the bugs added in MacOS 10.10.

Hi All,

Can you please try using a mouse instead of trackpad when using Lasso tool in PSE12? Do let us know if that works for you.

Thanks
Andaleeb

I don't have a mouse, only a trackpad and tablet. I need a tablet to do my work, not a mouse, and the polygonal lasso tool is still broken. It is completely non-functional, my clients are very impatient as their work is very late now.. :-/

For now, the issue exists in PSE12. We have raised the issue with Apple though.

You may try PSE13 trial from here (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/ind...) for completing your work as of now.

Hi,

We sincerely apologize for the problem that you have been facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).

We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).

In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:

1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad

2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem

Plug-in installation instructions:

1. Close Photoshop Elements

2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)

3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:

• For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/

• For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/

You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".

Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.

If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
vaishali
